To increase competitiveness, be that of a country, region or individual market entities, it is necessary to look for and implement new business models. It is commonly emphasized that in an open world these models must function in a common information space and be informed by knowledge resources of its participants. In this context, it is essential to have access to information and competences that stimulate innovation.

The monograph highlights results of a comprehensive study of the industrial sector in Ukraine and EU countries. The authors use their methodological approach to conduct a comparative assessment of competitive advantages of the Ukrainian and Polish industry at the macro and meso levels. Key trends in the development of the Ukrainian industry are identified in terms of several indicators, which characterize various forms of activity (production, export, investment, capital, innovation) and efficiency of the industrial sector of the Ukrainian economy.

Taking into account the results of the transformation of the Polish industry, the authors propose key criteria and ways of optimizing Ukraine’s industrial sector in its transition from an economy based on raw materials to one driven by innovation.

The monograph, which combines numerous literature sources with comprehensive empirical research, can be of interest not only to academics but also to representatives of the business sector and students interested in the issues of enhancing competitive advantages and building new business models.
